Used Boat Sales Event

The best time to look for a used canoe from Algonquin Outfitters or Swift is always in the Fall, starting in Sept and again in the Spring. It's often difficult for us to look for canoes in the winter because of the 6ft snow drifts often found around our Oxtongue Lake store, and in the summer most of our rental canoes are in high demand.

Every year we sell off several dozen used canoes, most are retired rentals that have seen several seasons of rental use and will usually have scratches and even patches on their hauls. All of our canoes have been reconditioned to a "no leak" condition, some may even have had new paint jobs. All are a good value.

Most Kevlar models sell between $900 and $1500 (about half to a third of their retail price) and Fiberglass models sell between $500 and $800. The most popular used models are Algonquin 16 & 17 and the Swift Kipawa 16'6". We may have the occasional Solo Canoe or Royalex Dumoine but they are not always available.

The Elusive $300 Used Canoe

We do get a lot of calls from customers wanting the elusive $300 ultralight Kevlar canoe, with most new Kevlar canoes costing $2000-$4000 you can just imaging what a used one valued at $300 would look like. One thing you should consider in what price range you look in, is usually the lower the price the more TLC your used canoe will require..

For those who insist on finding a $300 canoe. Sometimes when the wind blows hard and the 100' pine trees at our store give way, mother nature creates some nice (non seaworthy) canoes that we either turn into lovely collector book shelves or sell as... well $300 as is canoes..

Swift's road shows are also another great place to find one of our used canoes.
