Another way to explore Algonquin is on foot. Pack your
tent, sleeping bag, gear and food into a backpack and take
to Algonquin Park's extensive network of backpacking trails.
Although Algonquin Outfitters is renowned for custom canoe
trips into Algonquin Park, we can certainly help those who
choose to explore the park with their hiking boots on.

to Bring
You need only bring your own clothing and personal items.

for a suggested list. And don't worry if if don't have a
particular piece of clothing or forget your toothbrush,
our stores are well stocked with camping accessories and
some great travel clothing.
Try our Greenhorn Service!
This service is included with Ultimate Outfitting and is
an option for all Complete Outfitting customers who feel
they might need a basic course in camping trip skills. One
of our staff will lead you on a three hour mini-trip and
cover skills like camp set-up, food storage, and packing
tips. The charge is $25 per person, with a minimum of two
adults. Children in the group are free. Available by advance
reservation only at Oxtongue Lake.
Reservations
Reservations for Backpacker Outfitting should be made at
least four weeks in advance, in order to ensure permit availability.
This package is not available at our Huntsville, Opeongo
or Brent bases.

Western Uplands Trail
Accessed from either the Hwy 60 "corridor" (parking
area is 3 km past the West Gate on Highway #60) or from
Access Point #4 (Rain Lake) on the west side of the park.
This well-maintained trail system consists of many loops
and optional trails that offer hikes from from 32 km to
88 km in length.
Highland Trail
Accessed from the Hwy 60 "corridor" (parking area
is at the 29.7 km point on Highway #60) with loops extending
19km and 35km around Provoking, Head and Harness Lakes.
Eastern Pines Trail
Algonquin's newest backpacking trail is accessed from the
Achray Campground (access point #22) on the park's east
side, with loops of 6km and 15km lengths.

offers the Backpacking Trails of Algonquin Park Map. The
map is also available online from the Friends
of Algonquin Park for a small fee plus shipping and
taxes.
