Overnight - Superlight Canoe Trip

The lightest canoes and gear available today compliment
our most popular canoe trip package. If you don't like the
idea of lugging heavy canoes and excess gear over portages,
then this is the package for you.
We feel that Superlight Outfitting is our best value and
perfect for longer trips with numerous portages, where weight
is a big consideration. Algonquin Outfitters has long been
the industry leader for renting lightweight canoes. Back
when others were still renting only aluminum canoes, primarily
because of their durability, we were outfitting canoe trips
with lighter, sleeker Kevlar canoes equipped with comfy
"deep dish" carrying yokes.

This service is included with Ultimate Outfitting and is
an option for all Complete Outfitting customers who feel
they might need a basic course in canoe trip skills. One
of our staff will lead you on a three hour mini-trip and
cover skills like camp set-up, food storage, portaging and
paddling tips. The charge is $25 per person, with a minimum
of two adults. Children in the group are free. Available
by advance reservation only at Oxtongue Lake and Opeongo.
Solo
Canoe Option
Algonquin Outfitters is one of the few outfitters in North
America to rent modern solo canoes. If you are traveling
by yourself, or with a group preferring the independence
of solo paddling, this modified version of Superlight Outfitting
offers the use of solo canoes, which are not available with
other plans. Not available at Brent. We rent a variety of
solo canoes, including Swift models like the Shearwater
and Osprey. We have a number of classic but unfortunately
out-of-production models in our fleet as well, such as the
Sawyer Autumn Mist and Mad River Compatriot. All are 14
- 16 feet long, weigh 35 - 40 lbs and come with a detachable
carrying yoke, since the seat is in the centre of the boat.
Gear space varies with the model. Solo canoes tend to be
much narrower than tandem canoes, so a little practice paddling
is highly recommended for the first-timer.
"Food Only" or "Equipment
Only" Option
Paddlers with their own canoe and equipment can save time
by having Algonquin Outfitters prepare and pack the delicious
Superlight menu plan. Conversely, those who would rather
prepare their own special menu can book the equipment included
with the Superlight package, without our menu plan. Please
see our Gear Rental page for
pricing and more details.
