Group Trips - If You Have The Group, We've
Got The Trip!

Algonquin Outfitters has been helping plan, organize and
guide Algonquin Park canoe trips since 1961. Our expert
staff and experienced guides can provide training, advice
and valuable help from the initial planning process right
through to the day-to-day wilderness experience in Algonquin
Park. This kind of service is just one of the things that
makes any Algonquin Outfitters outfitting package among
the finest in North America.
Whether
you are a tour operator, Scout leader, church youth group
leader, special event planner or outdoor education teacher,
Algonquin Outfitters can help make your Algonquin Park experience
memorable, educational and above all, safe. With Canada's
largest rental fleet of lightweight Kevlar canoes, we have
the ability to provide services for a wide range of groups,
from small to large.
Our group experiences are customized to your needs, so
we can't outline all the possibilities on one page. Please
call and talk with one of our staff or guides to help design
the ideal trip for your program, based on your dreams, needs,
wants, experience and skills. Whether you need 50 canoes
for an adventure race, help with a day program for a youth
group, or want to take a Scout troop on a fully outfitted
week long canoe trip, make Algonquin Outfitters your first
call.
Here Are A Few Examples To Get You
Thinking
- Guided Voyageur canoe day trip:
Paddle traditional North Canoes (seat 10 people
each) from our Oxtongue Lake store on an hour-long
journey up the Oxtongue river to the base of Ragged
Falls, a 30 metre (90 foot) waterfall, where your
group can hike the trails by the falls and enjoy
a packed lunch. This is an excellent team building
experience and ideal for novice paddlers.
|
- Skill development programs: Spend
a day building group skills with rotating sessions
of kayaking, canoeing, hiking or mountain biking
in the wilderness of Algonquin Park. Having everyone
do the same activity at the same time is usually
not practical and learning new skills is much easier
in a smaller group. This type of program is ideal
large groups staying at the Whitefish Group Campground
(see more information below).
|
- Overnight canoe trips: Enjoy
the real Algonquin Park experience on a multi-day
canoe trip into the heart of the park's interior,
only accessible by canoe. Algonquin Outfitters offers
special rates and discounted outfitting packages
for non-profit youth groups such as scouts, church
youth groups and school outing clubs. Please call
or e-mail, using the form at the bottom of this
page, for full details. Guided overnight trips are
also available for groups using our Complete Outfitting
services.
|
- Special events: Are you planning
an event that requires a large number of canoes
or kayaks? Algonquin Outfitters has a fleet of over
500 canoes and kayaks and can deliver canoes and
gear to any of Algonquin Park's access points (or
almost anywhere else in Ontario). Call or email
for a price quotation.

Algonquin Outfitters is one of the few
outfitters can supply hundreds of canoes for your event.
Algonquin
Park, What You Should Know
Algonquin's 7630 square kilometres contains over 2000 km
of canoe routes, 1200 lakes, three backpacking
trail systems, three Nordic
ski trail systems, two mountain
bike trail systems and 17 day
hiking trails, most located along Algonquin's Hwy 60
corridor. The possibilities for an outstanding wilderness
experience for your group are almost limitless.
Algonquin Park interior canoe trips are best suited for
small groups. Interior camp sites have a limit of nine people
and three tents per site. Even though most lakes have numerous
sites, to organize a group of 50 people on an interior canoe
trip takes careful planning and a willingness to split up
into smaller groups, travel independently and even camp
on different lakes.
Smaller groups, of less than 24 people, are much easier
to organize for interior canoe trips and help reduce the
impact on Algonquin Park.
Group Camp Sites
If you want to keep your large group together, the best
option is a base camp type canoe trip. This way, the group
camps on the same lake each night and can travel on day
trips out from the camp site. One of the best spots to base
camp a large group in the park is at the Whitefish Group
Campground. This campground offers 18 sites, which can support
groups ranging in size from 10 to 40 people. Organized groups
larger than this may use the campground but will have to
occupy more than one site. Whitefish
Group Campsites should be reserved well in advance and
must be guaranteed by a credit card. Reservations can be
made by calling the park information line at (705) 633-5572.
Museums, Galleries & Park Programs
Algonquin Park has a rich cultural, scientific and environmental
history, plus excellent ongoing programs
for visitors. If your group has extra time you can explore
this heritage by visiting facilities
like the Algonquin Logging Museum, Algonquin Art Centre
or Algonquin Visitor Centre.
